Fortinet Subject Matter Expert (SME)

CDW is currently seeking an experienced Fortinet Subject Matter Expert (SME) for an urgent, fully remote engagement supporting the optimization and modernization of an Operational Technology (OT) firewall environment.

Location: Remote (candidates anywhere in Canada are welcome to apply)
Duration: Estimated 800–1,000 hours
Start: ASAP

Our client recently migrated from a legacy Cisco ASA architecture to a multi-zone FortiGate security architecture and requires a Fortinet expert to help optimize, standardize, and future-proof the environment.

Key Responsibilities
Rationalize and optimize firewall policies
Develop a security zone model and restructure policies
Create standardized UTM profile groups based on traffic classifications
Establish perimeter protection standards, including DDoS and zone protection policies
Standardize firewall objects and configurations
Define logging, monitoring, and reporting standards
Harden administrative access and strengthen management plane security
Optimize FortiManager policy packages and object management

Desired Expertise
Deep hands-on experience with FortiGate and FortiManager
Strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and industrial network security
Experience designing scalable, standardized firewall policy frameworks
Knowledge of security zoning, segmentation, governance, and best practices
Proven ability to improve security posture while enhancing operational efficiency

The successful consultant will deliver a standardized, maintainable, and scalable firewall policy framework that supports future deployments with minimal customization while strengthening security and governance.
