Job title: Staff Accountant

Location: Guelph, Ontario

Full-time, Permanent.

Salary: $50,000 – $65,000 depending on experience.

 

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and completing audit, review, and notice-to-reader engagement files. This role works closely with engagement leaders to ensure assignments are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with professional standards and internal quality expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Support a diverse client base across multiple industries by delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services
Plan, execute, and complete compilation, review, and audit engagements, including preparation of financial statement disclosures
Prepare and review personal and corporate tax returns, along with related filings (GST/HST, T4/T5, elections, and other statutory requirements)
Analyze financial data to support client reporting, compliance, and short- and long-term planning needs
Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff in their development and day-to-day work
Identify accounting, tax, and reporting issues and recommend practical solutions
Build strong professional relationships with clients and internal teams while contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment
Qualifications & Experience

Actively pursuing CPA designation
Minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting
Familiarity with accounting and tax preparation software
Working Conditions

Fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
Peak workload period from January to April
Hybrid work model (remote / on-site as required)
Occasional travel within the province
Extended hours and weekend work during busy season
