Job Overview

Provide technical evaluations, solve problems and coordinate technical work as required in major work areas supporting commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities.
Receive assignments from Supervisor and identify potential problems and opportunities in assigned areas or systems, assessing evaluating and recommending disposition requiring further review investigation or abandonment as best alternative.
Receive approval and discuss proposed solutions with personnel as required preparing submissions including cost justification and recommending adoption implementation steps.
Prepare documentation including equipment specifications, engineering calculations, installation, testing, operating and maintenance procedures and submit for approval.
Maintain update and revise operating and departmental procedures in alignment with licensing requirements policies safety standards efficiency goals.
Prepare procedures consistent with operating licenses departmental standards and safety principles ensuring minimal risk system performance.
Prepare reports for historical documentation by collecting and analyzing operational data and recommending improvements process.
Prepare specifications for procurement of materials services and equipment and provide technical support during installation.

Qualifications

Requires knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, process systems, and mechanical engineering to understand and improve facility operations.
Requires advanced knowledge in one or more of these disciplines to evaluate and propose improvements to processes, equipment, system reliability, and safety performance.
Requires strong English communication skills to prepare clear and concise technical reports and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
Requires completion of a four-year university degree in an appropriate engineering field or equivalent level of education.
Requires training and experience in the design, development, operation, or maintenance of a nuclear facility or industrial systems and equipment.
Requires experience in problem solving, providing technical advice, initiating studies, and making recommendations during design, commissioning, and operation of nuclear facilities.
Requires experience evaluating components, materials, and performing economic studies related to nuclear facility operations.
Requires 6 to 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering or related discipline to achieve full competency in the role.
