Job Title: Business Analyst – Intermediate
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days onsite / 3 days remote)
Employment Type: Contract (6 months)

About the Role:
Are you a dynamic Business Analyst or Product Owner with a passion for improving public transit operations? We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst – Intermediate to join our team and play a critical role in enhancing transit software solutions, especially within bus services and public sector operations.
In this hybrid role based in Toronto, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery teams, driving the successful development and deployment of IT products that improve rider experience and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth analysis of business processes, workflows, and systems within transit agencies and bus operations.
Gather, analyze, and document comprehensive business requirements, user stories, use cases, and functional specifications using interviews, workshops, and surveys.
Perform gap analysis and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Act as the voice of the customer, prioritizing and managing the product backlog aligned with strategic goals.
Collaborate closely with Agile development and QA teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Facilitate decision-making, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
Monitor product performance post-launch and recommend continuous improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
5+ years of experience in Business Analysis and/or Product Ownership, preferably within transit agencies, public sector, or bus operations.
Strong expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and Confluence.
Proven ability to gather and document requirements, user stories, and functional specs.
Experience managing product backlogs and prioritizing features to maximize business value.
Skilled at facilitating UAT and ensuring high-quality product delivery.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Transportation Planning, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Familiarity with public sector procurement processes and regulatory environments is a plus.
Relevant certifications such as CBAP or CSPO are advantageous.
