Job Overview

– Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and coordinate technical work supporting commissioning, operation and maintenance activities.
– Receive assignments from the Supervisor, identify potential problems and opportunities, assess issues, and recommend appropriate solutions.
– Prepare detailed documentation, including equipment specifications, engineering calculations, installation, testing, operating and maintenance procedures, and submit proposals for approval.
– Maintain and update operating and departmental procedures, ensuring alignment with operating licenses, policies, safety requirements, and current practices.
– Prepare reports, conduct studies and investigations, analyze operational data, and communicate technical details, results, conclusions, and recommendations to stakeholders.
– Review internal and external proposals, provide technical input, recommend disposition, and support approval processes.

Qualifications

– Requires knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, process systems, and mechanical engineering, with advanced knowledge in one or more areas to evaluate and improve processes, equipment, systems, safety, reliability, and performance.
– Experience in nuclear design engineering, particularly ECC knowledge, with preference for previous nuclear/vendor project design experience.
– Experience with cryogenic systems and piping systems is preferred.
– Four-year university education in an appropriate engineering field or equivalent.
– Requires training and experience in the design, development or operation of a nuclear facility, or in the development, manufacture or production of nuclear materials, components, or industrial systems and equipment.
– Requires experience solving problems, providing technical advice, initiating developmental studies, and making recommendations during the design, commissioning and operation of a nuclear facility.
– Requires experience evaluating components or materials and performing economic studies associated with nuclear facility design, commissioning and operation.
– Nuclear design engineering experience, particularly with ECC processes, with preference for previous nuclear/vendor project design experience; experience with cryogenic systems and piping systems.
– A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years in mechanical engineering or related discipline is considered necessary to gain this experience.
