Job Overview
– The Project Technical Specialist provides technical support and guidance for assigned engineering projects.
– This role serves as the primary technical point of contact, working closely with Project Management to resolve technical matters for internal and external stakeholders.
– Key responsibilities include design support, preparation of technical documentation, design verification, manufacturing support, and oversight of subcontracted engineering work.
Technical Documentation
– Technical deliverables include design requirements, FMEA documentation, design plans, procedures, test plans, vendor specifications, and statements of work.
Design Review & Verification
– Designs and drawings are reviewed to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
Project Support & Coordination
– Support is provided for project planning, risk management, scope control, procurement review, and preparation of technical requisitions.
Customer & Stakeholder Interface
– The role may act as technical lead during customer interface events and design reviews, presenting technical information and project updates.
Manufacturing & Operations Support
– Support extends to manufacturing, assembly, installation, commissioning, operations, and resolution of technical challenges.
Testing & Quality Assurance
– Testing strategies are developed to support design verification and client quality assurance requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
– Additional responsibilities include lessons learned documentation, rolling action items tracking, corrective actions, and health and safety support.
Qualifications
– Post-secondary education in industrial or mechanical engineering or a related field.
– Minimum 3 years of project engineering experience where production challenges are continuously unique rather than repetitive in nature.
– 1-2 years of relevant industry experience.
– Excellent technical knowledge in all aspects of manufacturing, assembly, purchasing, quality assurance, testing, and project coordination
– Strong problem-solving skills to evaluate and enhance production processes and systems and ability to identify and solve operations, process, and quality issues.
– Excellent written and verbal communication.
– Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams are essential for success in this role.
