📢 We’re Hiring: Legal Counsel / Senior Counsel (IT) at the LCBO! ⚖️💻

Are you a commercial lawyer with strong IT contracting experience looking to make an impact in one of Ontario’s most dynamic retail environments? The LCBO is seeking Legal Counsel / Senior Counsel to join its Legal team and provide strategic legal support across the organization, with a primary focus on the IT division.

Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, you’ll play a key role in advising business partners, negotiating complex technology agreements, and helping the organization navigate evolving legal issues in areas such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI.

🔹 What You’ll Be Doing:
✅ Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial and technology agreements, including SaaS, software licensing, support, and master services agreements
✅ Advising on data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence matters
✅ Supporting IT and Procurement teams on RFPs, RFQs, supplier negotiations, contractual interpretation, and risk mitigation
✅ Providing practical, business-focused legal guidance across multiple divisions, including Marketing, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Corporate Affairs
✅ Identifying legal risks and developing strategic solutions that support business objectives

🔹 What We’re Looking For:
✔️ LL.B. or J.D. degree
✔️ Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
✔️ 4+ years of post-call experience gained at a leading law firm and/or large in-house legal department
✔️ Strong commercial contracting experience supporting IT and business stakeholders
✔️ Excellent relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills

⭐ Assets Include:
• Experience in a regulated industry and/or public sector environment
• Knowledge of beverage alcohol regulations, FIPPA, cybersecurity, privacy, and AI-related legal issues
• Strong business acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
