Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an eDiscovery Law Clerk. In this position, you will play a vital role within the Legal e-Discovery Team, managing the full lifecycle of discovery activities related to litigation and regulatory matters. Your work will ensure the proper handling, preservation, and production of electronically stored information (ESI), supporting compliance and legal requirements across the enterprise.
Pay rate range (CAD): $17.60/hr – $29.71/hr
Responsibilities
Manage multiple cases from initiation to completion utilizing advanced technology and techniques
Collaborate with litigators to define discovery parameters, including custodians and search terms
Draft and issue legal hold notices, monitoring custodian responses and conducting interviews
Instruct technicians on database setup in review platforms and assist legal counsel with technology tools
Maintain documentation and chain of custody logs for all relevant records
Support legal team in analyzing and responding to e-Discovery requests in line with proportionality principles
Assist in planning and implementing review workflows, managing quality control, and documenting review processes
Monitor and report on case review statuses and case progress
Coordinate the lifting of legal holds and related case closure activities
Provide technical guidance and support to legal professionals on eDiscovery matters
Develop and nurture relationships with legal and Line of Business contacts to ensure their needs are met
Serve as liaison between the Line of Business and the Legal Group
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive enterprise and employee information
Perform additional duties as assigned
Desired Skill-Set
1-3 years of experience in the legal industry or relevant postsecondary education, including recent graduates with Law Clerk/Paralegal certificates
Proficient with new technology and software tools relevant to e-Discovery
Knowledge of applicable laws and legislation, legal terminology, and litigation documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with legal and technical terminology
Excellent attention to detail, proofreading, and editing abilities
Basic math and accounting skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective interpersonal skills and team collaboration
Adaptability to fast-paced and evolving environments
Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
