IT Engineer – Server Upgrades

We are seeking an IT Engineer – Server Upgrades (Red Hat and Windows) for a 6‑month contract with a strong possibility of extension. This is a hybrid role, requiring three days onsite in downtown Toronto and two days remote.

Role Overview:
The successful candidate will support an ongoing server modernization initiative, including:
1. Upgrading Linux Red Hat servers (v7 to v8) and Windows Servers (2012/2016 to 2019/2022). Approximately 75 Red Hat and 100+ Windows servers remaining in scope
2. Coordinating with application teams to schedule upgrades during approved maintenance windows, with support from a Program Manager

Upgrade activities may occur during evenings or weekends. Time worked outside regular hours is billable, with time off in lieu provided during the following week to support work‑life balance.

Required Skills:
1. Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux (v7/v8) and Windows Server
2. Working knowledge of automation and scripting tools, including Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash.
