Database Engineers

• Assist in the support and maintenance of database systems running Microsoft SQL Server and AWS Postgres Aurora.
• Work closely with various teams across the organization to help enhance the
performance, security, scalability, availability, reliability, and observability of
relational databases.
• Aid in the design and management of database schemas, implement basic
monitoring solutions, and help optimize SQL queries and database system
performance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose database issues under supervision, effectively
communicating findings and solutions.
• Participate in incident response activities, ensuring quick and efficient resolution of database-related issues.
• Support the standardization of observability practices for database telemetry, logs, and events to reduce mean time to identify issues.
• Assist in an on-call rotation to provide timely support and ensure the continuous operation of critical database systems.
• Up to 5+ years of relevant industry experience or a strong academic background in computer science or related fields.
• Basic experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other major RDBMS database systems.
• Exposure to maintaining, analyzing, and debugging systems on major cloud
platforms such as AWS.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Unix Shell, or Python.
Preferred candidates also have:
• Basic experience with NoSQL database systems.
• Familiarity with monitoring and supporting production services using observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Open Telemetry, and/or Dynatrace.
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Kubernetes.
• Some experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
• Fundamental skills in database schema design and query performance profiling
