Job Overview

– Lead the advancement of the organization’s fusion strategy by identifying, evaluating, and progressing high-potential partnership opportunities through a structured pipeline.
– Support opportunities from screening and due diligence through business case development, negotiation mandate support, and agreement execution while preparing executive-ready materials for technical experts and senior leaders.
– Advance the Center for Fusion Energy (CFE) from concept to a partner-aligned development plan by coordinating stakeholder engagement, developing value propositions, ecosystem maps, phased roadmaps, governance options, and maintaining the operational cadence needed to keep strategic initiatives moving forward.
– Develop and maintain funding trackers aligned with milestones and deliverables, monitor budgets, burn rates, and forecasts, support quarterly and annual funding allocation recommendations, and prepare governance and approval documentation.

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Science, Public Policy, or a related discipline. A master’s degree, including an MBA, MPA/MPP, MASc, or MEng, is considered an asset.
– 5-8+ years of progressive experience in business development, corporate development, strategy, commercial analysis, management consulting, or innovation partnerships, including 2-3+ years supporting partnership formation and execution through MOUs, MSAs, research collaborations, or joint venture-style agreements.
– Experience in regulated or high-governance industries such as energy, utilities, nuclear, aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or pharmaceuticals.
– Strong analytical and communication skills to develop opportunity assessments, financial models, scenario analyses, executive briefing materials, investment memos, budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting.
– Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. Power BI is an asset.
– Professional certifications (PMP, CPA, CFA, CBAP, P.Eng., or contract management training) are considered strong assets.
