Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Azure SQL Database Administrator- PostgreSQL/Banking. This position involves providing specialized database support, optimizing performance, and ensuring the security and reliability of critical systems vital to various lines of business. This is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension or conversion to full-time employment based on performance and project needs.
Pay rate range (CAD): $68.23/hr – $98.00/hr
Responsibilities
Take ownership of and lead technical resolutions for production incidents on MSSQL and Oracle databases
Communicate complex technical issues clearly to stakeholders and business partners
Ensure compliance with organizational standards for change control and database security policies
Analyze recurring incidents and recommend service improvements
Support on-call rotations, including incident response and customer support
Participate in incident management, scheduled disaster recovery, and SCM activities
Conduct post-mortem analyses and root cause investigations of critical incidents
Install, configure, and maintain MSSQL and Oracle databases
Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource management
Implement security best practices including user access control, encryption, and auditing (TDE, Data Redaction, Database Vault, Always Encrypted)
Design and support high availability (RAC, HA) and disaster recovery strategies
Automate routine database monitoring and maintenance tasks
Desired Skill-Set
5-7 years of experience with Azure Cloud databases, focusing on MSSQL
2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL
Proven experience with setup, installation, and configuration of database products
Strong skills in query tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring database issues
Hands-on cloud migration experience
Knowledge of database backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
Familiarity with database security features and best practices
Nice to Have
Experience with ServiceNow Ticketing System
Knowledge of SolarWind Performance Monitoring Tools
Azure Certification(s)
Financial Industry (FI) experience
