Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an Accountant-CPA/IFRS/Big4. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex accounting issues, contribute to key reporting processes, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on a variety of projects within a dynamic team environment.
Pay rate range (CAD): $41.10/hr – $49.72/hr
Responsibilities
Act as the primary contact for US Retail segment and bank-wide ECL matters
Serve as a subject matter expert on ECL, revenue recognition, operating segments, and related accounting issues
Provide technical IFRS accounting advisory services across the organization
Translate complex accounting standards into clear, practical guidance for stakeholders
Conduct technical research, prepare memos, and develop presentation materials on accounting topics
Assist in the preparation of external shareholder reports, including MD&A, financial statements, notes, and supplemental disclosures
Stay current on new IFRS standards, prepare updates, and communicate changes effectively
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams (Segment Finance, Tax, Risk, etc.) and external auditors and advisors
Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Support ongoing projects related to US Retail, especially around financial instruments and ECL standards
Maintain detailed documentation and provide insightful analysis on complex accounting issues
Desired Skill-Set
CPA, CA designation with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
Proven expertise in researching and resolving complex IFRS accounting issues, especially financial instruments and ECL
Strong stakeholder management skills with at least 3 years of experience
Solid understanding of external financial statement reports with three or more years of practical experience
Proficiency in MS Office tools including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Experience with Big 4 accounting firms is preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and the ability to comprehend complex transactions quickly
Nice to Have
Experience with ECL models and methodologies (3+ years)
Knowledge of US GAAP standards
Familiarity with banking industry accounting practices and regulatory requirements
Previous work at financial institutions
