Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Backend Java Developer. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative features within a dynamic IT project team supporting digital banking solutions. The successful candidate will primarily focus on backend development, troubleshooting, and supporting production environments.

Pay rate range (CAD): $50.00/hr – $60.00/hr

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain robust backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Support ongoing production environments, troubleshoot issues during releases, and resolve incidents.
Create detailed low-level design (LLD) documentation for new features and enhancements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate microservices and support onboarding of new users and partners.
Conduct integration testing and ensure code quality using tools like Swagger, Jira, and Confluence.
Monitor logs and perform analysis to identify and resolve system issues efficiently.
Support application deployment processes using Jenkins and Docker.
Assist in improving service stability and scalability by optimizing backend architectures.
Desired Skill-Set

Strong backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Proficiency with Java 17+ (team currently using Java 21).
Experience with microservices architecture and integrating messaging technologies like IBM MQ.
Hands-on experience with version control tools such as Git.
Knowledge of Swagger, Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins.
Basic SQL skills and familiarity with log monitoring and analysis.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have

Experience with Docker containerization.
Familiarity with messaging systems like IBM MQ.
Prior experience supporting production environments and application releases.
Ability to proactively identify risks and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
