Senior DevOps Specialist
This position is onsite
Are you passionate about designing, building and supporting reliable and scalable environments and solutions? Reporting to the Manager, DevOps & Cloud, you will play an essential role in the LCBO IT department as a liaison between teams including delivery/development, QA and operations. You will also be responsible for executing and operationalizing cloud cost optimization strategies including but not limited to on-premises, cloud and hybrid-cloud.
The Senior DevOps Specialist will bridge the development and operational aspects of project delivery by managing continuous integration and continuous delivery processes. This position will work to identify factors impacting the availability of critical endpoints and provide solutions. Additionally, the Specialist will also participate in the 24×7 rotational support model.

About The Role
DevOps Practices
Design, build, and operate cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, OpenTofu, Terragrunt, Atlantis).
Build and manage Kubernetes-based platforms (AKS, EKS, MuleSoft), including cluster architecture, workload optimization, performance tuning, and auto-scaling capabilities.
Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD and deployment pipelines using Jenkins and reusable Groovy scripting.
Develop performance testing strategies and implement monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions to ensure platform reliability and scalability.
Identify and implement automation opportunities to eliminate manual and repetitive operational tasks.
Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity, decision-making, and operational efficiency while ensuring responsible and secure usage.
Serve as a technical subject matter expert throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation.
Support
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network, connectivity, IAM/authorization, and availability issues across distributed systems in Azure, AWS, and GCP environments
Monitor production systems and ensure availability, reliability, and performance of critical applications.
Perform routine application maintenance tasks
Identify recurring problems and build the tools and processes to prevent problems from recurring
Create and maintain technical documentation of solutions and standard operating procedures
Collaboration with the following teams;
Cybersecurity teams to embed DevSecOps practices before creating automations, pipelines and resources.
Development and operations teams to identify potential vulnerability points / performance guidelines and ensure business objectives are met.
Peers to design, implement, and enforce best practices across projects.
Testing teams to identify and implement testing strategies and automation
Operations teams to identify efficient monitoring and support tools and practices .
Business teams to translate requirements into technical approaches and architectures.
All teams to identify a governance strategy
FinOps Practices
FinOps enablement: embed cost awareness into CI/CD, platform engineering, governance, and tooling
Cloud cost optimization: execute recommendations, rightsizing, and waste-reduction across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Skytap
Usage and logging optimization: analyze cost data, reduce logging volume, and optimize retention policies
Automation and controls: use IaC/scripts to enforce cost policies and prevent inefficiencies
Reporting and continuous improvement: support forecasting, reporting, documentation, savings measurement, and FinOps maturity
About You
College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related area
Must-Have 3+ years experience administering and/or implementing solutions that address the following areas:
Multi-cloud platforms and FinOps: Azure, AWS, GCP; resource types, cost drivers, and optimization strategies
DevOps engineering: CI/CD, release/deployment management, test automation, version control, and build/dependency tools.
Infrastructure automation: Infrastructure as Code / Configuration as Code for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
Containers and orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker, images, and registries
Observability platforms: monitoring, logging, alerting, Elastic Cloud, and ELK Stack
Data technologies: SQL/NoSQL databases, Kafka, and Redis
Preferred:
5+ years total DevOps direct experience
Infrastructure and systems administration: Linux/Windows, application performance, security, and infrastructure fundamentals
Automation and IaC: Shell, Python, Groovy, Terraform, Ansible AWX, and secrets/certificate automation
Cloud and FinOps: large-scale multi-cloud support, FinOps practices, frameworks, or certifications
Kafka and observability: Confluent/Apache Kafka administration, Grafana, and Prometheus
