Job Overview
Lead and administer the organization, coordination and execution of assigned project(s) within multidiscipline project portfolios.
Lead matrix project execution teams and coordinate project documentation.
Ensure appropriate Project Management and Contract Management governance is followed throughout all project phases from initiation to closeout.
Undertake the organizing, coordinating and controlling of all stages of project management including scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications, reporting and risk management.
Perform project management activities throughout the lifecycle of assigned projects, ensuring objectives are delivered within targets of safety, quality, budget and schedule.
Prepare project charters, WBS, estimates, schedules, risk management plans, project management plans, gate packages and contract performance specifications.
Coordinate approvals, permits, labour resources, design requirements, bid packages, tender evaluations and purchasing recommendations.
Lead meetings with designers, suppliers, construction and operations personnel.
Coordinate project turnover documentation, address deficiencies, visit project sites, manufacturers and suppliers, and maintain awareness of construction, budgeting, estimating and scheduling practices.
Qualifications
Requires a knowledge of project management principles, specifically the 5 primary project phases .
Requires a knowledge of economics and business principles to provide project cost estimates and forecasts, normally acquired through successful completion of a 4-year university degree in an appropriate area plus post-secondary courses in project management and business economics, or equivalent education and experience.
Requires experience in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in request for proposal and contract bidding processes, managing projects in execution phase and managing project closeout.
Requires experience managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality, familiarity with generating station or heavy industry environments, knowledge of cost accounting, forecasting, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance and health and safety.
Experience managing projects of increasing complexity with multiple contracts, multiple stakeholders and schedule constraints is essential.
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
