The Calian Nuclear team provides a comprehensive range of services covering the entire nuclear lifecycle. This includes Safety Analysis, Licensing, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Protection, Decommissioning, Waste management, and cutting-edge Systems Engineering and Robotics.

 

Position Overview

Calian is currently seeking a team-oriented Engineer/Analyst to support a client in Bruce County. Engineer/Analyst oversees, reviews, and approves engineering work for the development and changes on major projects. The Owners Engineer must work collaboratively with Calian and client peers and stakeholders.

 

The key characteristic for successful candidates is proactivity in learning and discovering project details, along with perseverance in working towards solutions with thorough attention to detail. The position requires excellent verbal & written communication skills are required. A background (experience or education) in the nuclear industry, or a background in mechatronics engineering of complex, mission-critical projects is an asset. Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering is an asset. Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Visio, MS Excel, and MS Project are highly valued. Owners Engineering Training and Qualifications are also highly valued.

 

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be involved in the following:

Support client projects in Reactor Design and LCAM (Life-Cycle Asset Management) under the client Quality Assurance (QA) program
Obtain and maintain the relevant Owners Engineering qualifications through client online training and experience
Prepare engineering evaluations to support program initiatives
Support review of supplier deliverables on behalf of LCAM
Lead the ECC (Engineering Change Control) process
Interface with relevant stakeholders (station reactor design SPOCs, Responsible System Engineers “RSEs”) to review designs and identify opportunities for improvement
Drive resolution of issues impacting projects and/or performance
Work with project teams from client site 3–5 days per week
Other duties as directed by the Program Manager
Qualifications

Degree in Applied Science / Engineering, preferably in Mechatronics
3+ years of relevant experience, with preference for Nuclear industry experience
Educational background in the nuclear field or energy sector is preferred
Understanding of systems engineering practices
Good organizational and interpersonal skills to work directly with the customer
Hands-on, operational experience working in the field (either in nuclear maintenance or other complex systems) is an asset
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Ability to excel in a team environment
Additional Requirements

Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Visio, MS Excel, and MS Project
Owners Engineering Training And Qualifications Are Highly Valued
Must be able to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
The position is located in Bruce County, Ontario, at client site facilities. The successful candidate must be located within proximity of the client site or willing to relocate there.

 

Note: Candidates who hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario will be assigned the Engineer title. Candidates who do not hold a P.Eng will be assigned the Analyst title.

 

Compensation

$75,000 – $95,000 per annum
