Must Haves: Manager Notes

Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in mapping and implementing clinical terminologies such as SNOMED CT and LOINC
Extensive knowledge of digital exchange standards (FHIR, HL7) and clinical terminologies
Hands-on experience implementing terminology solutions in healthcare environments
Strong understanding of pan-Canadian digital health standards and tooling
Experience working in Canadian healthcare environments (acute care, primary care, or community care)
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
Background Information

Ontario Health is seeking a Senior Specialized IT Consultant to support the Digital Health Standards (DHS) Program as part of the Patients Before Paperwork (Pb4P) initiative.

This role focuses on enabling digital transformation through standardized referral forms (eForms) and reducing administrative burden for healthcare providers by supporting structured, interoperable data exchange aligned with provincial and national standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Conduct requirements gathering and engage stakeholders across clinical, business, and technical teams
Analyze, document, and validate business needs and terminology requirements
Develop and maintain terminology artifacts and mappings
Support implementation of FHIR, HL7, and terminology-based solutions
Collaborate with Digital Health Standards teams and external partners
Contribute to specification development, testing, and standards implementation
Prepare documentation including presentations, reports, and briefing notes
Support adoption and integration of standards-based digital health solutions
Required Skills

Strong experience with:
SNOMED CT / SNOMED CT-CA
LOINC / pCLOCD
HL7 v2 and HL7 FHIR
Experience in clinical data standards, interoperability, and integration
Strong analytical, research, and documentation skills
Experience working with cross-functional teams
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Desired Skills

Experience with eForms, referrals, and workflow digitization initiatives
Knowledge of Ontario and pan-Canadian digital health standards landscape
Familiarity with terminology tools such as:
Apelon DTS
Ontoserver
Term Works
Experience with healthcare systems across Ontario
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
