Duration: 6-month contract (extensions possible)

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Data Platform Architect to join our team. This is a senior, hands-on role with expectations for technical leadership, strategic solutioning, and mentorship. You will collaborate closely with Enterprise Architects, Solutions Architects, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to design and implement enterprise-grade data solutions.
As a senior individual contributor, you will not have direct reports, but you will provide technical guidance and passive mentorship to the data engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to influence the evolution of our data platforms, processes, and technology roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Enterprise and Solutions Architects to design scalable, enterprise-grade data solutions.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to Data Engineers and Senior Data Engineers in building and enhancing data platforms.
Translate business objectives and operational challenges into robust, data-driven solutions.
Take a hands-on approach by building, debugging, supporting, and maintaining data platforms and pipelines.
Contribute to the planning and evolution of data engineering technology roadmaps and best practices.
Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards, including data lineage, metadata management, encryption, IAM, and role-based access.
Required Skills & Experience:
10+ years of experience in industries combining Data & Analytics, Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and DevOps, including 5+ years in Data Engineering.
3+ years as a senior individual contributor (Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect, etc.).
Expertise in Data Lake and Data Warehouse technologies, with strong SQL skills (Snowflake preferred).
Advanced programming skills (Python or similar).
Experience with modern cloud services for compute, storage, and networking (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code workflows, monitoring, and observability.
Familiarity with API and event-driven architectures for real-time data processing.
Expertise in data governance and security practices, including data cataloguing, lineage, encryption, IAM, and RBAC.
Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams.
Strong communication skills to effectively explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
