Position Summary:
Reporting to VP, Internal Audit, the Internal Audit Manager is responsible for complex audits of a regulatory compliance and operational nature.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a risk-based audit approach to specific business functions and processes as part of the audit plan or as needed.
Manages the effective delivery of assigned audits against the audit plan.
Analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of control environment; Identifying control gaps and provide practical recommendations
Utilizes data modeling and analytical skills to analyze financial and operational data and to identify areas of risk.
Validates the effectiveness of the second and first lines in managing risk through evaluation of the design and effective operation internal controls using a variety of frameworks and assessment tools and techniques.
Prepare clear, concise, and accurate audit reports, highlighting key findings, recommendations, and action plans for management to address control weaknesses, non-compliance, and operational inefficiencies
Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination in addressing audit findings and recommendations
Researches and develops approaches for continuous monitoring of internal control effectiveness.
Documents audit results in accordance with Haventree Bank’s Audit Methodology and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
Assess, evaluate and promote compliance to internal policies.
Research emerging or technical subjects when required to support audits (e.g. Credit Risk, OSFI Guidelines etc.)
Qualifications & Experience:
Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:
The position requires a University Degree
The incumbent must hold a Certified Internal Audit (CIA).
Designations such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Information System Audit (CISA) designations are nice to have.
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
The position requires 5-7 years experience in risk-based auditing with a large public accounting firm or equivalent institution, and/or have working knowledge of the financial services/residential mortgage industry and business.
Must have in-depth knowledge on key regulations and legislation affecting the residential mortgage business (e.g. OSFI, AML, Residential Mortgages – B20.)
Experience is required in working with mortgage underwriting/servicing systems and Governance, Risk & Control (GRC) software.
