Job Title: Technical Engineer – Human Factors Engineering (HFE)
Location: Pickering, Ontario (Hybrid – 2 days remote)
Contract Duration: 36 months
Hours: 35 hours/week
Salary Range: $75 – $80 CAD/hour
Overview:
We’re seeking 4 highly skilled Technical Engineers – HFE to support the Pickering Nuclear Refurbishment projects. This is a hands-on role managing Human Factors Engineering deliverables across multiple engineering modifications, including Retube & Feeder Replacement, Boiler Replacement, Turbine Generator, and Balance of Plant. You’ll oversee vendor HFE deliverables, perform HFE analysis, and ensure designs meet regulatory and operational standards.
What You’ll Do:
Develop, review, and manage HFE Program Plans and deliverables (HFEPPs, Verification & Validation Plans, HFESRs)
Conduct Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design review, usability testing, and workflow assessments
Provide SME recommendations and support installation/commissioning activities
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure HFE compliance across >120 projects
Requirements:
Proven experience in HFE for nuclear power, per NUREG-0700
Qualified as a Design Engineer of Human-Machine Interfaces under OPG QID 33685/45233 and duty area QID 7768
CANDU-specific HFE design experience
Strong knowledge of HFE methodologies, analysis, and documentation
Excellent collaboration, analytical, and communication skills
