Job Title: Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) – Banking & Regulatory Domain

Location: Hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day remote) – Toronto Downtown

Pay: 80$ – 85$/hr.

Job Type- Contract

 

Role Summary:

The Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting regulatory change initiatives across the organization. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to translate regulatory requirements into business and functional specifications, and hands-on experience working on compliance-driven projects. The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience analyzing regulatory frameworks and ensuring organizational processes, systems, and controls meet regulatory standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Analysis & Compliance
Interpret and analyze new or updated regulations, guidelines, and industry standards (e.g., FCA, PRA, GDPR, SOX, Basel III, MiFID II, AML/KYC, etc. depending on industry).
Assess regulatory impacts on business processes, policies, systems, and data flows.
Ensure traceability from regulatory requirement → business requirement → functional requirement → test case.

Required Qualifications & Experience

10+ years of Business Analyst experience (or level appropriate to role).
Proven regulatory project experience is mandatory, such as:
Financial services: AML/KYC, Sanctions, Basel III/IV, EMIR, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank, Consumer Duty, IFRS 9, GDPR, etc.
Pharmacy/healthcare: FDA, EMA, GxP, HIPAA, ISO standards.
Energy/other sectors: SOX, HSE regulations, ESG reporting rules, etc.
Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, risk management, audit processes, or regulatory operations.
Experience writing BRDs/FRDs, user stories, process maps (BPMN), and data dictionaries.
Solid understanding of SDLC and delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
Proficiency with BA tools: JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, SQL (advantage).

 

Desired Skills

Background working with compliance teams, regulators, auditors, or internal risk functions.
Experience in data governance, data lineage, or regulatory reporting.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work under regulatory deadlines and manage multiple stakeholders.

 

Education / Certifications (Nice-to-have)

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, Information Systems, or related field.
Professional certifications:
CBAP, CCBA
CAMS, ICA, CFA, FRM, PRM
Agile certifications (Scrum Master, Product Owner)
