Exciting Opportunity: Software Tester (Onsite) 🚀
Our client is seeking an experienced Software Tester to join their dynamic Applications and Development team under the direction of the Senior Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for QA professionals to work on complex projects, web applications, and systems while contributing to high-quality standards in a collaborative academic environment.
📍 Location: Toronto
⏰ Hours: 8:45 AM – 5:00 PM | 7.25 billable hours/day (including 1-hour unpaid lunch + 2 x 15-minute paid breaks)
💵 Pay Rate: $40–$55/hour (inclusive)
📆 Duration: Minimum 6 months, potentially up to 9 months
📝 Holiday Time Off: December 24, 2025 – January 5, 2026
💻 Onsite/Remote: Primarily onsite; remote options may be discussed with management based on performance
About the Role:
As a Software Tester, you will be responsible for executing testing activities across applications and projects, ensuring high-quality software delivery. Your work will include creating detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts, performing manual and automated testing, documenting results, troubleshooting issues, and training junior staff. You will also help enforce testing standards and contribute to continuous improvement in QA processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Document, implement, and monitor testing processes according to defined strategies
Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Develop and implement application/system testing plans and scenarios
Track service metrics to support continuous improvement
Create and maintain technical documentation and quality control procedures
Evaluate programming code (PHP/Laravel) for validity, compatibility, and compliance with standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of recent QA/testing experience for Windows or web-based applications
Hands-on experience in different types of testing: System, Regression, Smoke, Performance, Load, etc.
Experience writing test plans, scripts, cases, and scenarios; testing web applications; and reporting defects
Solid knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, AODA)
Experience with browser stack and cross-device testing (phones, tablets)
Working knowledge of test management software (Jira)
Experience in web security testing (XSS, XSRF, SQL Injection, etc.)
Familiarity with back-end testing frameworks and tools (Selenium, Quality Centre, QTP, Frisby, etc.)
Additional Assets:
Programming experience with .NET, Java, or PHP; understanding of HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, REST, and CSS
Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Shell, Ruby, or Python
Knowledge of Software Configuration Management and source code management tools (GIT, Subversion)
