Job Opportunity: Senior Project Manager (IT) – Contract | Hybrid | Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

About the Role:
We’re currently seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead the coordination, management, and successful delivery of IT and Finance-related projects within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. This contract role requires a driven professional with a passion for delivering business-driven technology solutions while ensuring fiscal responsibility and policy alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Develop project charters, business cases, and plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Lead projects documenting business requirements and delivering IT solutions compliant with enterprise architecture.
Manage multiple concurrent projects, timelines, resources, and governance structures.
Collaborate with business and IT leadership to define objectives, scope, timelines, risks, and budgets.
Facilitate effective project communications, risk escalation, and issue management.
Oversee deliverables for internal teams, steering committees, and other stakeholders.
Contract & Budget Oversight:
Conduct contract inventory and spend analysis to inform strategic procurement.
Develop budget justifications and contractual spend plans.
Support zero-based budgeting initiatives and recommend cost-saving measures.
Prepare financial evaluations to ensure value-for-money in contract spend.
Grants Support:
Assist in the collection and preliminary analysis of grant data for reporting and decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, IT, Computer Science, Finance, or a related discipline.
Certifications:
Active PMP or PgMP certification required.
Technical Skills & Experience:
5+ years in IT project management, including business case development, feasibility studies, and risk management.
5+ years leading and facilitating stakeholder meetings at all levels.
5+ years translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
3+ years working with Azure tools, components, and services.
4+ years creating data visualizations, dashboards, and information products.
3+ years managing project forecasts, actual budgets, and financial reporting.
3+ years working with information management and cybersecurity policies.
