The Calian Nuclear team provides a comprehensive range of services covering the entire nuclear lifecycle. This includes Safety Analysis, Licensing, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Protection, Decommissioning, Waste management, and cutting-edge Systems Engineering and Robotics.

 

Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Safety Analysis plays a key role in the leadership and performance of Nuclear Safety Analysis projects to help Calian Nuclear ensure the safety and security of Canada’s nuclear infrastructure.

 

They can lead and manage technical projects and are expected to provide guidance, and mentorship, to other staff within the Safety Analysis team.

 

In addition to supporting projects in Calian Nuclear’s core areas of expertise, the Senior Manager will support the continued growth of Calian Nuclear, by expanding the scope of services currently being offered to clients in the nuclear industry in the area of safety analysis and introducing new and innovative approaches to support new advanced reactor technologies.

 

Responsibilities

Provide mentorship and assist in the development of junior technical staff within the Calian Nuclear teamOversee growth of the Safety Analysis team from an operational and management perspectiveReview, verify, and approve complex technical reportsBe accountable for the technical work undertaken by the teamSupport technical projects and interface with clients and stakeholdersProvide support to business development and technical aspects of proposals and assists with the identification of new markets and clientsCollaborate directly with other managers, senior leaders and technical experts across the business to support the growth of the Calian Nuclear team

Qualifications

BSc, BASc, MSc, or Ph.D. in relevant field (i.e., Nuclear, Health Physics or Engineering)P.Eng. within the province of Ontario8+ years of experience within the Canadian Nuclear industry4+ years of experience within a leadership capacity and/or experience building high performance teamsExperience working specifically with Canadian Nuclear utilities in the area of Safety AnalysisWorking knowledge with applicable CNSC REGDOCs (e.g. REGDOC-2.4.1, REGDOC-2.4.2) and relevant CSA standardsProficiency in relevant nuclear safety computer codes (such as: MCNP, SCALE, CATHENA, GOTHIC, ADDAM, Phoenix RM, CAFTA)Must be a subject matter expert in one or more area of Nuclear Safety Analysis (Deterministic or Probabilistic Safety Analysis)
