Position: Senior Accountant
Type: 6 month Contract with potential for permanent
Location: Mississauga /In office (5 days)
Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a manufacturing company located in Mississauga, ON. We are looking to hire a Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract basis of 6 months, which has the possibility of extension/ permanent. This candidate will be working from their Mississauga Office on a full time basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
Operational & Cross-Functional Coordination
Liaise with the Sales team to determine applicable customer credits
Coordinate with the Shipping department to confirm shipping charges
Communicate with Customer Service Representatives and vendors regarding payments
Conduct background checks for new clients or vendors
Handle booking and scheduling related to finance operations
Accounts Receivable (AR)
Invoice customer orders accurately and timely
Manage and update banking information for clients
Contact up to 10 clients regularly regarding outstanding balances (Collections)
Perform Visa reconciliation across 407 accounts
Accounts Payable (AP)
Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
Maintain accurate records of payables and resolve discrepancies
Payroll & Compliance
Process bi-weekly payroll and ensure accuracy
Handle WSIBs (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) claims and ROEs (Records of Employment)
Prepare and submit government remittances (e.g., taxes, benefits)
Financial Planning & Growth
Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities after the initial 3-month onboarding period
Support the development of financial reports and analysis for management
Take on progressively advanced responsibilities as the role evolves
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-functional role
Strong understanding of AR/AP, payroll, and compliance procedures
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience with collections and vendor/client communications is a plus
