Job – Rhapsody Integration Developer

Location:- Remote, Canada

Position Overview

 

The Rhapsody Integration Developer & Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare data interfaces using Rhapsody Integration Engine.

This role bridges technical development and business/clinical workflow analysis to ensure smooth data exchange across healthcare systems (EHRs, LIS, RIS, Billing, and third-party applications).

The onshore position requires client-facing interaction, requirement gathering, and coordination with offshore teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

Integration Development
Design, develop, configure, and maintain Rhapsody interfaces (HL7 v2.x, HL7 v3, FHIR, CCD, CDA, X12, DICOM, etc.).
Implement message routing, filtering, transformation, and mapping using Rhapsody components (filters, translators, communication points).
Create and maintain Rhapsody communication adapters (TCP/IP, FTP/SFTP, SOAP/REST APIs, Web Services).
Develop robust error handling, logging, and alerting mechanisms.

 

 

Analysis & Client Engagement

Work directly with clinical/business stakeholders to gather integration requirements.
Translate business and clinical workflows into technical specifications for interface development.
Conduct impact analysis of integration changes and provide recommendations.
Document requirements, functional specifications, and interface design details.

 

 

Collaboration

Work with onshore/offshore developers, analysts, and QA teams to ensure timely project delivery.
Liaise with EHR vendors (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.) and third-party system vendors to troubleshoot interface issues.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HL7, and healthcare data standards.

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

4–8 years of experience with Orion Rhapsody Integration Engine
Strong knowledge of HL7 (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, DFT, MDM, VXU, etc.), FHIR, CCD/CDA, and X12 transactions.
Proficiency in Rhapsody IDE, Rhapsody Management Console (RMC), filters, translators, error handling.
Experience with scripting languages (JavaScript, Java, .NET, Perl, or VBScript).
Solid understanding of healthcare workflows (ADT, Orders, Results, Billing, Scheduling).
Familiarity with major EHRs (Epic Bridges, Cerner FSI/Interop, Allscripts, Meditech, NextGen).
Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI security, and data privacy standards.
Experience with API integrations (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support skills.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Rhapsody Certification (Core, Advanced, or Associate).
Prior experience in HL7/FHIR interface migrations.
Agile methodology exposure.
