Title: Python / Airflow SRE Engineer – Toronto (Hybrid)
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON – 2-3 days in office
Contract: 12 months (extension possible)
Rate: Competitive (max $76/hr)
Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Canada
About the Role:
We’re seeking a highly skilled Python / Airflow SRE Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting a major financial client. This is a hands-on, technical role where you’ll design, optimize, and scale critical data workflows while embedding SRE principles into software development.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and optimize Airflow DAGs for large-scale data pipelines.
Apply SRE principles to Python applications and backend systems.
Troubleshoot Linux systems, optimize performance, and manage batch workloads.
Create Dynatrace dashboards, KPIs, and alerting strategies for observability.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
Work with containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
Must-Have Skills:
Expert-level Python: coding, performance tuning, async/multiprocessing, testing.
Strong experience with Airflow DAGs, scheduler tuning, SLA management.
Deep understanding of SRE practices embedded in software development.
Linux systems expertise: kernel tuning, networking, filesystems, process management.
Proficiency with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code tools.
Experience with distributed systems concepts: retries, idempotency, backpressure.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Nice-to-Have:
Dynatrace mastery for monitoring and observability.
Experience optimizing database-backed batch workloads.
