Job Overview
Undertake the organizing, coordinating, and controlling of all stages of project management in accordance with governance for assigned projects from initiation to closeout.
Apply approved processes for phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications, reporting, and risk.
Perform lifecycle project management activities, ensuring objectives are delivered within safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets.
Provide input into project background information, scope and constructability reviews, and assist in preparing Business Case Submissions for senior management approval.
Prepare and coordinate information pertinent to assigned projects, including alternatives for planning.
Develop structures for estimating and controlling project cost and schedule, gather stakeholder input, and ensure requirements are reflected in execution plans.
Arrange approvals, licenses, permits, and labour resources, and coordinate clarification of design and specification requirements.
Maintain liaison with field construction and operations, provide reports, monitor cost and schedule, manage changes, and develop mitigation plans.
Support contract management, stakeholder communication, turnover documentation, deficiency resolution, site visits, and adherence to procedures.
Qualifications
Requires knowledge of project management principles, including Identification, Initiation, Definition, Execution, and Closeout.
Requires knowledge of economics and business principles for cost estimates and forecasts, typically acquired through a four-year university degree and related courses, or equivalent education.
Requires experience developing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, participating in RFP and contract processes, managing execution and closeout phases, and balancing scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
Requires familiarity with heavy-industry equipment and processes, problem-solving ability, cost accounting and forecasting knowledge, commercial contracting methods, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance, and health and safety.
Requires strong organizational skills, teamwork abilities, environmental awareness, excellent communication skills, and experience managing projects of increasing complexity over approximately 6 to 8 years.
Experience with software or IT projects involving third-party contractor support is considered an asset.
