Job Overview:
The Project Control Officer/Engineer provides advanced project controls expertise to the PMO, with a strong focus on Primavera P6 schedule management, LOB administration, and portfolio‑wide schedule governance.
This role drives schedule quality, supports cross‑project integration, and enables strategic decision‑making through high‑value analysis and reporting.
The position functions as a subject‑matter expert and advisor to project teams and PMO leadership.
Primavera P6 Scheduling (Advanced)
Develops, maintains, and optimizes complex Primavera P6 schedules across multiple projects and programs.
Leads schedule quality assessments including critical path analysis, float evaluation, baseline validation, and compliance audits.
Integrates schedules across portfolios to produce consolidated roadmaps and milestone views while ensuring adherence to PMO standards.
Oversees P6 portfolio administration, ensuring data accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with performance indicators through ETL processes, and identifies automation opportunities within LOB workflows.
Project Controls Governance & Standards
Champions schedule management best practices and enforces PMO governance frameworks.
Leads or supports schedule reviews, audits, and readiness assessments for major project gates, while maintaining PxMO templates, tools, coding structures, and documentation.
Reporting & Analytics
Delivers high‑quality schedule and LOB insights for executive presentations and portfolio reviews.
Produces forecasting, scenario modelling, and time‑impact analyses, collaborating with cost, risk, and reporting teams to ensure integrated project control outputs.
Qualifications
Requires knowledge of engineering or science related to project planning, scheduling, risk management, and control services.
Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with experience developing and maintaining computerized project information, costs, and forecasts.
This knowledge is normally acquired through a four‑year university education in Business, Finance, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PMP certification or CII participation is an asset.
Requires 6–8 years of experience in project controls, including Primavera P6 administration, project scoping, scheduling, and project management support within Nuclear, Hydroelectric, or Thermal generating facilities, as well as experience with engineering and construction management concepts and computerized systems including ETL integration.
