Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Payroll Specialist. This position involves supporting complex payroll processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize HR and payroll operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, expertise in payroll systems, and excellent communication abilities to deliver high-quality support in a fast-paced environment.
Pay rate range (CAD): $26.87/hr – $32.25/hr
Responsibilities
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of Workday HR/Payroll data through testing and validation
Support all aspects of year-end tax slips and government filings, including reconciliations
Manage all expatriate and globally mobile employee payroll support
Participate in internal and external audit processes related to payroll and HR data
Provide tailored year-end tax slip support to executive leadership, including the CEO and senior management
Oversee end-to-end payroll processes for the Board of Directors
Identify, review, and prepare reconciliation points of interest (POIs) as needed
Review and rectify taxes from retiree demographic reports and US tax data queries
Respond promptly to employee inquiries via ServiceNow, ensuring accurate and timely resolutions
Support quarterly director fee payroll processing and off-cycle/manual payments
Handle manual off-cycle payroll processing and EIB data loads
Balance payroll tax slip data and oversee annual CRA and Revenu Quebec report validation
Perform process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
Support expatriate payroll administration and shadow payroll processing
Desired Skill-Set
Minimum 3 years of experience working with Workday payroll and HR modules, including year-end processes
Proven experience supporting expatriate and globally mobile employees in a large organization
Strong knowledge of Canadian Federal and Provincial payroll regulations and U.S. legislative requirements (CRA, Revenu Quebec, IRS)
Excellent Excel skills and data reconciliation experience
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Nice to Have
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or working towards certification
Prior experience in large enterprise environments
Familiarity with payroll shadow processes and manual adjustments
Experience working with international payroll and tax compliance
