Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Mainframe Application Developer (COBOL/CICS/DB2). You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust mainframe applications that align with business objectives and enterprise architecture. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of secure, high-quality, and scalable solutions that support operational excellence and technological advancement.
Pay rate range (CAD): $43.48/hr – $52.17/hr
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and implement mainframe applications in accordance with business and technical requirements
Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications and high-quality code
Ensure solutions comply with enterprise standards for security, performance, and resiliency
Analyze system impacts across upstream and downstream dependencies
Support production stability through root cause analysis and issue resolution
Evaluate and recommend improvements to technology, processes, and system efficiency
Build scalable, maintainable, and reusable solutions aligned with enterprise objectives
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver aligned outcomes
Review code and provide guidance to support team effectiveness and quality
Contribute to development standards and continuous improvement initiatives
Support project delivery and operational priorities
Mentor team members and facilitate knowledge sharing and capability development
Desired Skill-Set
Typically 3–5 years of mainframe development experience or equivalent education
Proficiency in COBOL, CICS, PL/1, JCL, DB2, and VSAM
Familiarity with EASYTRIEVE and FOCUS
Experience with Jira, Confluence, z/OS, and ServiceNow
Exposure to AI technologies and mainframe modernization is a strong asset
Experience working with CSF Designer is an advantage but not mandatory
Strong knowledge of software development practices and enterprise ecosystems
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently on complex initiatives
Strong collaboration and influencing skills
Data-driven decision-making
Nice to Have
Exposure to AI and mainframe modernization projects
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages
Knowledge of DevOps practices within mainframe environments
Certification in mainframe technologies or related fields
