LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER / SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

🚨 NOW HIRING: LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER / SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER 🚨
📍 Downtown Toronto | Hybrid – 1–2 days onsite per week

We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who has progressed from Developer → Senior Developer → Technical Lead and is ready to continue growing into a software management role.

⚙️ ROLE STRUCTURE
Approximately 30–50% hands-on technical work and 50–70% leadership, release coordination, investigations, mentorship, and delivery oversight.
You will help lead a team of approximately 8–9 developers, QA professionals, contractors, and offshore resources supporting high-volume Capital Markets applications.

✅ KEY REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years of enterprise application development experience
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot backend development experience
• Angular preferred; React experience is also acceptable
• Experience designing and building interconnected microservices and distributed systems
• Strong production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation skills
• Practical SQL and relational database experience, including Oracle or similar technologies
• Ability to trace data across systems and determine where a data flow or integration has failed
• Experience supporting high-volume or near real-time processing environments
• Linux/Unix exposure and enterprise scripting experience
• Experience leading, mentoring, and providing technical direction to development teams
• Experience with code reviews, design discussions, release coordination, Agile ceremonies, and delivery oversight
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, design patterns, and software engineering best practices
• Clear, concise, and confident communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

📈 CAPITAL MARKETS EXPERIENCE
Experience within Institutional Equities or the broader Capital Markets domain is preferred. Candidates with exposure to Fixed Income, trading platforms, order lifecycle, financial products, or other market-facing systems will also be considered.

➕ NICE TO HAVE
• Kafka, IBM MQ, JMS, RabbitMQ, Solace, or similar messaging technologies
• Kubernetes, Rancher, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps exposure
• Airflow, Tidal, NiFi, or other automation and scheduling tools
