Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Onsite – 5 days/week)
Duration: Contract
Salary $500.00 to $800.00 per day, C2C.

Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Solutions Designer senior to design, develop, and implement enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) solutions using Cognos and Microsoft Power BI.
This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and BI architecture, capable of translating complex business requirements into scalable, high-performing technical solutions while adhering to ITS standards and industry best practices.

Technical Skills & Experience
Must-Have (10+ Years Overall Experience):
Power BI (Service – Cloud & Server – On-Prem): report and dashboard design
Microsoft SQL Server and database development
ETL processes using SSIS and daily job scheduling/monitoring
Release pipeline automation and CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.)
Deployment coordination with Release, Infrastructure, and Operations teams
Data analysis, data management, and semantic model design
Core Technical Expertise:
BI solution architecture (on-premises and cloud)
Data warehousing, data migration, and transformation
Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
Cognos development
Oracle and MS SQL platforms
Role-based access control (e.g., Azure AD)
Preferred Skills:
Visual Studio, .NET Framework, Java
Cloud services and advanced analytics
Version control systems (Git)
Data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner)
Produce and maintain technical documentation (data dictionaries, mappings, diagrams)
Create release books and deployment guides
Ensure documentation meets governance, audit, and compliance standards

Core Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to define technical roadmaps and long-term strategies
Expertise in system design, integration, and architecture
Deep understanding of Microsoft technology stack and Azure services

Project Experience
Proven experience leading large-scale BI and data migration projects
Strong background in SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies
Ability to evaluate solution options and recommend optimal approaches
Provide walkthroughs of all deliverables before assignment completion
Complete knowledge transfer at least 2 weeks before the project ends

Nice-to-Have Skills
Business analysis techniques (process modeling, functional modeling)
CASE tools for requirements documentation
Awareness of emerging I&IT trends and technologies
Experience aligning solutions with organizational best practices
