GIS Analyst

🚀 We’re Hiring: GIS Analyst – Remote (Canada) 🚀

Are you a GIS expert with a passion for spatial analysis and data-driven storytelling? BQ International is looking for a GIS Analyst to work with cutting-edge geospatial data and support broadband accessibility initiatives across Alberta.

This is a remote contract role (within Canada), where your GIS skills will directly contribute to broadband expansion and infrastructure planning.

🔹 Position Details:
📍 Location: Remote (within Canada) – occasional on-site meetings in Alberta (travel not covered)
📅 Contract Duration: April 14, 2025 – March 31, 2026
⏰ Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:15 – 16:30 (Alberta Time)

🔹 What You’ll Be Doing:
✅ Analyzing broadband coverage using GIS tools and scripting languages
✅ Developing geospatial models, reports, and visualizations for broadband projects
✅ Automating GIS workflows, geodatabases, and mapping applications
✅ Conducting spatial and geostatistical analysis to identify broadband gaps
✅ Supporting policymakers with data-driven insights for broadband expansion
✅ Ensuring GIS data integrity, security, and maintenance

🔹 What You Bring:
✔️ Expertise in GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar) and spatial analysis
✔️ Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, or R for GIS data automation
✔️ Experience with ETL processes for spatial data transformation
✔️ Knowledge of geodatabases (Enterprise GIS, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
✔️ Ability to create web maps, dashboards, and geoprocessing services

🔹 Bonus Points If You:
⭐ Have experience in broadband infrastructure or telecommunications GIS
⭐ Excel at designing interactive maps and data visualizations

🔹 Equipment & Work Requirements:
📌 Must provide your own Windows or macOS-compatible computer
📌 Work must be conducted within Canada due to security regulations
📌 Mandatory security & privacy training required upon onboarding
