Job Title: Intermediate Financial Analyst
Location: Edmonton, Alberta.
6-month contract.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst with strong experience in financial reporting, contract workspace management, and accounting systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and experience working with SAP, Ariba, and Excel in a complex organizational environment.
This role will support financial operations, contract management, reporting accuracy, and process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain contract workspaces using SAP and Ariba.
Prepare and support financial reporting, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial statements.
Apply accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards (or equivalent) in financial analysis and reporting.
Accurately calculate, post, reconcile, and maintain financial records.
Support budget management, internal controls, and financial process development within accounting systems.
Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Develop documentation, process maps, and analytical models to support business and financial processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting structures.
Required Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (degree, diploma, or certificate).
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
Experience using SAP and Ariba for contract workspace management.
Experience with financial reporting and financial statement accuracy.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
Experience working with accounting systems, budgeting processes, and internal controls.
Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
CPA designation (in progress or completed).
Knowledge of Canadian public sector legislation and frameworks, including trade agreements, the Financial Administration Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and Public Works Act.
Experience drafting, reviewing, and managing vendor contracts in complex environments.
Experience performing quantitative and qualitative cost-benefit analysis.
Ability to create process documentation and visual models, including process flows, gap analysis, SWOT analysis, RACI matrices, and organizational diagrams.
Experience with process improvement, requirements gathering, and documentation.
Experience supporting IT-related financial processes and accounting.
