Data Engineer (Azure Data Factory | Databricks | PySpark)
📍 Pickering, ON (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
⏳ 12-Month Contract | 35 hours/week
💰 Up to $96/hr (All-inclusive)
We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer with strong experience in Azure Data Factory and Databricks, and deep expertise in building scalable data pipelines using PySpark, SparkSQL, Python, and SQL.
This role sits within a cross-functional Agile team focused on building high-performance data lake and data warehouse solutions that power enterprise reporting, analytics, and digital innovation.
You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing modern data engineering platforms on Microsoft Azure, ensuring data is secure, reliable, and available for downstream business use.
🔧 What You’ll Do
Build and productionize scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines
Develop and optimize data workflows using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks
Design and maintain data lakehouse and data warehouse solutions
Implement data ingestion pipelines from multiple sources (APIs, JSON, CSV, XML, etc.)
Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and security standards
Work closely with Data Architects, BI teams, and Data Scientists
Support production systems and troubleshoot data pipeline issues
Build orchestration and automation to ensure reliable data delivery
Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and CI/CD practices
Contribute to metadata management and data catalog initiatives
Develop automated testing for data pipelines (unit & regression testing)
🧠 What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Expertise in Azure Databricks
Strong programming in PySpark and SparkSQL
Advanced SQL skills
Experience with Azure Data Lake (ADLS) and/or Azure Synapse Analytics
Experience building ETL/ELT data pipelines
Strong understanding of data structures and data processing frameworks
Nice to Have
Azure Purview or data governance tools
CI/CD for data pipelines (DevOps practices)
Power BI or data visualization exposure
Experience with CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code concepts
Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments
