Business Intelligence Specialist (Cognos)
On-site – Toronto, Ontario
Contract – Open to Canadian Incorporated Contractors
$550 – $750 per day

Noramtec Consultants is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Specialist with strong Cognos expertise to support a major public sector initiative in Toronto. This role focuses on BI development, data modeling, and reporting using Cognos Analytics, IBM Cloud Pak for Data, and AWS Redshift.
Key Responsibilities
Gather and document business requirements and develop analysis/design documentation
Build Cognos Framework Manager models and BI business models
Develop and maintain Cognos reports, dashboards, and metadata structures
Implement security models, user groups, and BI object folder structures
Develop reports using Cognos on Cloud Pak for Data with AWS Redshift
Perform testing, debugging, and optimization of reports and dashboards
Develop complex SQL / PL-SQL logic and performance tuning
Support UAT, system implementation, and knowledge transfer to internal teams
Train SMEs and deliver self-serve BI reporting demonstrations

Required Experience
5+ years with Cognos Analytics reporting and modeling
Strong experience with Framework Manager, Dynamic Cube Designer, Transformer, Data
Modules, and Datasets
Experience with AWS Redshift and cloud BI environments
Strong SQL / PL-SQL development and performance tuning skills
Experience designing Data Marts / Data Warehouses
Familiarity with Agile / Scrum and tools like JIRA & Confluence
Public Sector experience preferred
