Requirements: What you’ll need

Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications:

General Skills:

Experience with analyzing data in source systems to identify data cleanliness issues (e.g. missing values, duplicate meanings, and invalid data)Experience with developing feedback processes to fix corrupt data in the source systemsExperience with developing data extraction, transformation, and load programs (daily and initial load) functionality on a wide range of data repositories (structured and semi-structured files, relational and multi-dimensional data stores)Experience with developing, implementing and maintaining schedule/dependency logic for Extract Transform Load (ETL) scriptsExperience with developing monitoring and error notification processes to ensure data is updated as designedExperience with developing automation extraction, cleansing and load scriptsExperience designing visual dashboards to highlight trends and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and developing canned reports (scheduled and ad-hoc)Proven troubleshooting and analytical experienceExperience in process decomposition/mapping and business process re-engineering and complex data models using UML.Experience in the use of development tools and business re-engineering softwareExperience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. business, logical, and physical models) based on Enterprise Application Processes and Modeling methodology and guidelinesExperience with the Microsoft suite of technology including: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Power BIExperience with data modeling and design principles for data marts and data warehouses

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge and experience in developing data analysis applicationsKnowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practicesAbility to provide expert advice in developing and integrating process and information models to enable identifying and eliminating redundant business processesExperience with developing monitoring and error notification processes to ensure data is updated as designedHands on experience working with stakeholders to develop and document interface specifications design between Business Intelligence solutions and external applicationsExtensive experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modelling tools like Power Designer, and VisioKnowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards

Evaluation Criteria

Technical Proficiency

Demonstrates advanced knowledge and expertise in various BI tools and technologies, such as data modeling, ETL processes, data visualization, and reporting.Experience with the Microsoft suite of technology including: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Power BI

Data Analysis Skills

Exhibits strong data analysis capabilities, including data mining, data interpretation, and the ability to derive meaningful insights to support decision-making.

Business Acumen

Understands the organization’s goals, processes, and industry context, and can translate business requirements into effective BI solutions that drive strategic outcomes.

Communication Skills

Effectively communicates complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and can collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver BI solutions.

Must Haves:

Experience in using Power BI and other data visualization tools to create reports and dashboards, perform data exploration, and manage datasets.Expertise in designing interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop, including selecting appropriate visualizations and arranging elements for clarity.Experience in performing DAX formulas and functions for performing calculations, aggregations, and custom calculations in Power BIUnderstanding of good UI design in delivering rich user experience by creating custom visuals and themes in Power BI to enhance report aesthetics and functionality.
