Do’s & Dont’s during job search in Canada

❌ Recruiters never reaches out to you via whatsapp, text or telegram.

✅ Recruiters always reaches out to you via LinkedIn, Phone call or Email.

 

❌ Be careful with the agencies which ask money promising you to get placed. No one can guarantee job.

✅ Genuine recruiters will NOT ask the candidate to pay money for getting placed.

 

❌ Recruiters will NOT reach out to you from generic email addresses (e.g. Gmail, Outlook etc.)

✅ Recruiters reach out to you using their professional email address.

 

❌ Do not share details to recruiter’s personal email address. (e.g. Gmail, Outlook etc.)

✅ Always send the resume & other documents only to their official email address.

 

❌ Avoid naming your resume as Resume 1, resume sample 1 etc.

✅ The best practice of naming resume should be Name_Role_Location e.g. Sudheer_ScrumMaster_Toronto.pdf

 

❌ Don’t provide SIN or personal details in your resume.

✅ SIN is used only after getting job, when your payroll needs to be processed.

 

❌ Do NOT apply same job with 2 agencies. Your profile might get rejected.

✅ Provide RTR to one agency & go through that agency.

 

❌ Do not ask referrals to strangers. Chances of getting referrals are slim.

✅ Build your professional network before you ask referrals

✅ Introduce yourself when you approach someone for the first time.

 

 

🚫 99% of the time, you will not get offer letter without interview. If you get offer letter without interview, please be careful.

🚫 If the offer is too good to be true, it is too good to be true. Beware.

🚫 Do not trust the agencies who encourages to add fake experience. The moment these agencies are black listed, you will be kicked out of the job.

🚫 Beware of the job opportunities placed by training agencies. They actually post a job, which is not a real job. It is just to collect your contact details & reach out to you for enrolling for their expensive training courses.

🚫 Beware of agents reaching out on part time jobs or side gig. These might be a part of pyramid schemes.

🚫 Offer letters which gives you accommodation, vehicle, free cell phones etc. might end up being fake offers.

🚫 Do not purchase gift cards and send it as part of the request from your fake clients. It is a scam. You will end up loosing money.
