🚨 Major Incident Officer (L8) – Enterprise Incident Command Role | Toronto Hybrid
We are looking for an experienced Major Incident Officer to join a global technology operations team responsible for managing high-impact, enterprise-wide technology incidents across a large, complex IT environment.
This is a senior incident command role, not a hands-on technical position. You will act as the Incident Commander during critical outages and lead cross-functional teams through restoration of services impacting customers, revenue, and regulatory operations.
📍 Location
Toronto, ON (Hybrid – ~2–3 days/week onsite)
💰 Compensation
$125,000 – $130,000 base salary + bonus
(Flexible for exceptional candidates)
🧭 Role Overview
As a Major Incident Officer, you will be responsible for leading P1/P2 major incident bridges that may involve:
Customer-facing system outages
Revenue-impacting service disruptions
Regulatory or compliance-related incidents
Critical infrastructure, cloud, and application failures
Enterprise-wide technology disruptions across multiple teams
You will coordinate 100+ participants on incident bridges, including senior technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
Your mission is simple but high-stakes:
👉 Restore service as quickly and safely as possible while maintaining control, clarity, and communication under pressure.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage major incident bridges (P1/P2) end-to-end
Act as Incident Commander during high-severity outages
Coordinate across infrastructure, application, security, database, and cloud teams globally
Drive rapid triage, ownership assignment, escalation, and resolution paths
Communicate clearly with VP-level and executive stakeholders
Maintain structured control of high-pressure incident calls (often 50–200+ participants)
Ensure accurate and timely incident communications and status updates
Lead post-incident reviews (PIRs) and root cause analysis (RCA) follow-ups
Contribute to service improvement initiatives, playbooks, and process optimization
🧠 What We’re Looking For
✔ Must-Have Experience
5+ years in Major Incident Management / Incident Command / IT Operations leadership
Proven experience leading P1/P2 incident bridges end-to-end
Experience in large enterprise environments (banking, telecom, insurance, or similar preferred)
Ability to coordinate multiple technical teams across geographies
✔ Leadership & Communication
Strong executive presence; comfortable engaging VP+ stakeholders
Ability to remain calm, structured, and decisive under pressure
Experience managing large, high-stakes incident calls (100+ participants)
Strong communication and facilitation skills in chaotic environments
✔ Technical Breadth (High-Level)
Understanding of enterprise IT environments (applications, infrastructure, cloud, network, databases, security)
Ability to ask the right questions and challenge unclear technical updates
