IT Project Manager / Senior IT Consultant (Part-Time, Contract)
Location: Remote with onsite meetings in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Engagement: Project-Based, Eligibility: Open to local contractors
Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager / Senior IT Consultant to support a municipal client in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. This is a hands-on, high-impact role combining Tier 3 technical expertise, IT leadership development, and project delivery.
You will serve as a trusted advisor and technical leader, helping modernize infrastructure, mentor internal IT staff, and lead key initiatives across Microsoft 365 and cloud transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Tier 3 Technical Services
Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for critical IT issues
Advise on infrastructure strategy, modernization, and procurement
Support transition from on-premises Active Directory to Azure
Lead/support Intune migration and endpoint management improvements
Oversee OneDrive migration and Microsoft 365 adoption
Assist with network upgrades and optimization
Configure and guide phishing simulation programs
Support security system upgrades and backup monitoring (on-prem & cloud)
Guide critical incidents and emergencies
Leadership Development & Mentorship
Assess team capabilities and identify technical skill gaps
Develop and implement IT leadership development plans
Mentor junior and mid-level IT staff through hands-on coaching and knowledge transfer
Collaborate with leadership (e.g., Deputy CAO) to define performance metrics and growth plans
Support the development of policies, procedures, and best practices
Identify strategic opportunities to strengthen IT operations
Project Management
Lead IT initiatives through the full lifecycle:
Initiation: Project charters, stakeholder registers
Planning: Project management plans
Execution: Task coordination and delivery oversight
Monitoring & Controlling: Progress tracking, risk mitigation, change management
Closing: Documentation, lessons learned, transition planning
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in:
Tier 3 IT support/infrastructure engineering
IT project management and delivery
IT team leadership and mentorship
Strong expertise in:
Microsoft 365 ecosystem (SharePoint, Intune, Exchange)
Active Directory & Azure AD (Entra ID)
Windows Server environments
Endpoint management and cloud migrations
Demonstrated ability to:
Lead complex technical initiatives
Translate business needs into IT solutions
Mentor and develop internal IT teams
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
