Azure Data Engineer

Our top 5 banking client is looking for an Azure Data Engineer. This is a 6 month contract with a possibility of extension in Scarborough and 1 day/week onsite (3–4 days onsite may be required based on business needs).

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 5+ years of development experience, with hands-on experience in designing, developing, and successfully deploying large-scale projects from end to end.
2) 3+ years’ development experience in Azure Data Factory for pipeline orchestration and event-based technology.
3) Experience developing Azure Function Apps implemented in Python.
4) Experience with Apache Kafka: including with Confluent for Apache and producing/consuming events and schema handling, as well as building event‑driven architectures
5) Experience integrating with SQL databases (queries, stored procedures, data modeling).

Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Strong understanding of Azure Key Vault for secrets management and secure credential handling.
2) Experience working with Azure Storage Accounts and medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold layers).
3) Ability to build REST APIs with Python, including authentication, exception handling, and logging.
4) Background creating Technical Design Documents (TDDs) with clear system components and flows.
5) Ability to produce architecture diagrams (current state, future state, sequence diagrams, flow diagrams).
6) Knowledge of secure data movement patterns between on‑prem and cloud systems.
7) Familiarity with CI/CD for Azure (Azure DevOps or Git-based pipelines).
8) Ability to work with cross‑functional teams (DBAs, platform teams, security teams).
