Senior SRE – Email Infrastructure Consultant

We are currently looking for a Senior SRE – Email Infrastructure Consultant for a 12-month contract, with the possibility of a permanent hire. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring 1 day of work from home and 4 days onsite in Burnaby, BC. The role includes an on-call rotation of approximately 1 week per month, with a target start date of April 1, 2026.

The ideal candidate will be a Senior Exchange Engineer responsible for production email systems, comfortable with on-call duties, and able to work onsite most of the week. A solid understanding of enterprise change control in a security-first environment is essential.

Key responsibilities include:
– Operating and supporting a 24×7 enterprise email platform with strict SLA and availability requirements.
– Administering and securing Microsoft Exchange Hybrid environments.
– Managing Exchange High Availability, including Database Availability Groups (DAGs) and disaster-recovery readiness.
– Designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing mail flow and deliverability.
– Maintaining and evolving operational documentation and runbooks.
– Monitoring platforms using tools such as Grafana, Zabbix, and FortiMonitor / Panopta.
– Supporting dependent services including Active Directory, DNS, certificates, and networking.

Must-have skills:
– Senior Exchange experience (5+ years preferred).
– Experience with Exchange Hybrid (Exchange Online + On-Prem).
– Knowledge of Exchange DAGs / High Availability.
– Familiarity with email protocols and security: SMTP, SPF, DKIM, DMARC.
– Linux administration in production environments.
– Experience in 24×7 operational / on-call environments.
– Strong troubleshooting and documentation discipline.

Nice-to-have skills:
– Experience with FortiMail / FortiGate.
– Automation or scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform).
– Public cloud exposure (AWS / Azure / GCP).
