We are seeking a senior Data Platform Architect to provide technical leadership and drive modern data engineering practices for a major loyalty and rewards platform. This is a 6-month contract with potential for extension, offering a hybrid work structure (2–3 days onsite weekly).
Key Responsibilities:
Design enterprise-grade data solutions in collaboration with Enterprise and Solutions Architects.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Data Engineers and Senior Data Engineers.
Translate business objectives into scalable, data-driven solutions.
Hands-on engineering: build, debug, support, and enhance data platforms and pipelines.
Contribute to planning forward-looking data engineering roadmaps.
Required Skills & Experience:
10+ years in Data & Analytics, Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or DevOps, including 5+ years in Data Engineering.
3+ years as a senior individual contributor (Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect, etc.).
Expertise in Data Lake and Data Warehouse technologies (Snowflake preferred) and advanced SQL.
Advanced programming skills (Python or similar).
Experience with modern cloud services (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, monitoring/observability, API/event-driven architectures.
Knowledge of data governance and security practices (data lineage, metadata management, encryption, IAM, role-based access controls).
Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
Nice-to-Haves:
Loyalty or rewards program experience.
Location & Structure:
Toronto, ON – hybrid (2–3 days onsite, flexible remote 50%).
Reporting to Director, Data Engineering & Operations.
