The role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to deliver complex, scalable solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and PowerBI. One of the key responsibilities of this role is collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to understand and design solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements. This individual will work on a cross-functional team with approximately 8-10 members, including full stack developers, data engineers, UX designers, and business analysts. They will code and review solutions to ensure they are well designed and developed, with a focus on maintainability / extensibility / component re-usability. The individual will have the opportunity to contribute across our larger tech stack, including ETL, internal development tools, and data analytics applications / infrastructure, according to business needs.

In this role, you will:

Develop and maintain scalable, maintainable, and extensible solutions
Participate in technical discussions to propose viable solutions to complex problems
Provide guidance on best practices, design patterns, and troubleshooting
Participate in code reviews to ensure high quality, consistent code
Collaborate with business and engineering teams to uncover opportunities for process and application improvement
Assist in resolving technical challenges
Design and improve testing strategies (unit, integration, regression, performance)
Contribute to the evolution of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

What you need to have to be considered

Strong professional experience (2+ years) developing solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and PowerBI
Strong attention to detail in developing visually consistent and professional reports
Strong communication skills
Ability to work within a team environment
These will help you stand out

Experience working in Agile environments
Familiarity with cloud development / deployment (AWS preferred)
Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Microsoft Teams
Experience with AWS Airflow
Body of work that demonstrates creative problem solving
Familiarity with PostgreSQL is preferred. While SQL Server supports many of our legacy systems, we are investing in PostgreSQL as part of our modern data platform strategy
