Job Overview
Under the general supervision of the Logistics Assistant Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the effective utilization of people, equipment and other resources to effectively ship products to clients, ensuring that maximum results are achieved, while minimizing scrap, rework, downtime and excess costs.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that employees work in compliance with health and safety-related legislation and company’s health and safety program
Provide an example for others by always directing and performing work in a safe manner; Follow company’s health and safety policy and procedures
Provide employees’ instructions on safe work procedures (verbal and written)
Ensure employees are provided with and use required safety equipment and personal protective equipment
Conduct regular inspections (planned and unplanned) to identify unsafe, hazardous practices and conditions and ensure prompt corrective action
Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual danger to their health and safety
Report all incidents, injuries, illnesses, and near misses and complete thorough investigations to identify corrective actions. Advise management on how to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Hold regular safety meetings with employees to review safety conditions and health and safety policies
Recipe For Success
Completion of College diploma within Supply Chain Management or a related field
Minimum 5 years of warehouse experience within the Food Manufacturing industry
Experience with WMS and RF Scanning
Experience with Navision is an asset
Experience with Microsoft excel
Forklift Operator Certification
Effective stress management skills, with the ability to work without direct supervision
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Excellent knowledge of health & safety requirements
Ability to handle multiple projects at once while respecting tight deadlines
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment
Must be comfortable working in a freezer/cold storage facility.
