About the Role:

As a Corporate Accountant, you’ll play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger & Financial Operations

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, and depreciation.
Review account balances and ensure accuracy in prepayments, provisions, and intercompany transactions.
Oversee billing processes such as management fees and chargebacks.
Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Support internal reporting and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.
Budgeting & Forecasting

Collaborate with leadership to develop budgets and long-term forecasts.
Analyze variances and provide insights to guide financial planning.
Tax Compliance

Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns (e.g., HST/QST).
Stay informed on tax regulations and assess their impact on financial operations.
Audit & Analysis

Support external audits by providing documentation and addressing inquiries.
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives.
Implement audit recommendations to enhance internal controls.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is an asset.
Experience with holding companies and market securities is preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage), Unanet, and Microsoft Excel.
Proven ability to improve processes and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, especially when presenting financial data to non-financial audiences.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance.
