We’re hiring a Mainframe COBOL Developer for a Signature Banking Project at Scotiabank. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate with senior technology leaders.
🔍 Role Details:
📍 Location: Hybrid – 3 days onsite
💼 Contract Duration: 3 months (Strong possibility of extension or full-time hire)
🕘 Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (37.5 hrs/week)
🧩 Your Responsibilities:
Lead the development and support of mainframe applications for Canadian banking lines
Collaborate with internal teams and business stakeholders
Provide technical analysis, application support, and enhancements
Support production systems and participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
Mentor junior developers and share mainframe best practices
✅ Must-Have Skills:
10+ years of Assembler development (hands-on & recent – mandatory)
10+ years with COBOL, JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, Netron, VSAM, CICS, CA7, SAS
Deep experience with Endevor, ACF2, Fault Analyzer, SDSF
Familiar with MVS/TSO, SYNCSORT, IDCAMS, COMPAREX, File Manager
Strong DB2, z/OS Debugger, and DFSORT experience
🌟 Nice-to-Haves:
File transfer protocols (FTP/SFTP), PGP Encryption
ETL process knowledge in mainframe
DevOps, API, and web/cloud (Azure) integration experience
🧠 Soft Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience in production support and mentoring
Passion for continuous improvement and collaboration
