Job Title: Data Analytical Specialist/Scientist (Junior Level)
Location: Hybrid, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Type: Contract
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and delivery of functional analytics for evidence-based decision-making.
Collaborate with clients to assess data analytics capabilities, gather future-state requirements, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Manage analytics initiatives, including reporting and data set delivery.
Develop statistical models and machine learning algorithms for business scenarios.
Participate in documentation, testing, and end-user training.
Worked with experts and stakeholders to develop Business Intelligence solutions.
Create data models for accurate, unbiased, and understandable information.
Communicate complex analyses clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
General Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Consulting experience with excellent relationship management.
Ability to work with analytical methods, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining.
Experience with large, complex datasets, data transformation, and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Proficiency in SQL, programming languages, and analytical software (e.g., R, MATLAB, SPSS).
Strong investigative skills with proficiency in mathematics and statistics.
Junior Data Scientist Role:
Analyze datasets from various ministry sources, identifying gaps and resolving issues.
Develop reports and conduct predictive analytics.
Document findings and report to the team in an agile project environment.
Required Skills:
Statistical modeling using R and experience with Power BI integration.
Experience with land-use planning, StatsCan demographics, and Ontario Open Data is a plus.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., GIS, Tableau, Power BI).
Proficiency with SQL and data cleaning/transforming.
Tools & Techniques:
Expert knowledge of MS Excel, data validation, and SQL databases.
Experience with dimensional data models and statistical modeling in R.
Experience creating interactive visualizations using tools like R Shiny, Python, or SAS is an asset.
